About the role:

Seymour College is seeking an Indigenous Engagement Coordinator to play a pivotal role in supporting and engaging with our Indigenous students. This position offers an unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey and wellbeing of young people within our community. This role works during school terms, 21 hours a week. The key responsibilities are:

  • Provide targeted learning support, assisting students in achieving academic and wellbeing goals.
  • Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans in collaboration with students and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the College’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), chair the RAP working group, and coordinate events such as NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment for Indigenous boarders.
  • Organise activities and events to celebrate culture and community.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

As the successful candidate, you will hold:

  • Experience mentoring and supporting young people, particularly within an educational context.
  • A strong understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous communities and education.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Proven organisational skills, including managing priorities and maintaining thorough records.
